On Wednesday, Argentine forward Pablo Moreno scored a hat-trick in Shanghai Shenhua's 5-2 victory over Beijing Guoan. The goal was his first for the Chinese Super League champions and it marked a highly successful night for the 27-year-old striker.
In the opening minutes of the match, Moreno took a shot from outside the penalty area that beat goalkeeper Xu Weiyang to give Shanghai Shenhua the lead. He then doubled their advantage with a header in the second half, before adding another in the dying moments of the game.
Despite only having played three matches since joining the club, Moreno has already shown that he is capable of making an impact on the Chinese Super League. His performance against Beijing Guoan was particularly impressive, as he showed great pace, strength and finishing ability.
Shanghai Shenhua manager Wei Lihong praised Moreno's performance, saying: "Pablo has been working hard in training and he has made good progress. I'm very happy to see him score so many goals in such a short time."
With Moreno now on the scoresheet, it will be interesting to see how he performs in the coming weeks and months. His goals could be crucial as Shanghai Shenhua look to challenge for the league title this season.
